Losing weight can be a great battle for many women. However, one question that needs to be asked is "is quick weight loss the ultimate fix?" There are numerous weight loss programs for women available, some of which work, but only for a short period of time, and then of course, there are those that are a complete scam.
Therefore, let us take a look at these weight loss programs and understand why they do and don't work.
Quick weight loss diets aim at eating a much lower number of calories than you burn in a given day. This means that you need to count calories or follow one of those "lose ten pounds in ten days" diets. This regime generally requires that you eat only 800 calories a day in order to lose weight, and it has to be said that 800 calories a day is really not very much.
You will of course be able to maintain this diet for the short term and lose weight. However, as soon as you begin to eat normally again, the weight will just come straight back. After a certain period of time, such as 6 months, trying different weight loss programs you will still be overweight. I wouldn't say that this was quick weight loss, would you?
So, now that we have established that quick weight loss programs are not the answer, let's look at why shedding 1 to 2 pounds a week is a better way to lose weight. Ensuring that you are giving your body enough calories to live off will give you a constant weight loss which you will find much easier to stick to. By doing this you can still indulge in the occasional treats such as a glass of wine or a slice of pizza etc. This method is so much more natural and simpler to stick to in order to lose 1 to 2 pounds a week.
Of course, it is still important to control what you are eating on a daily basis and consume plenty of fruit, vegetables and fiber. You will find by doing this that after a 6 month period you will be able to stick to this diet plan and have a slower weight loss that will help you to achieve your goals. This is a much better way to successfully lose weight and keep it off than any quick fix diet which you will surely find impossible to stick to and find that you quickly go back to your old ways of eating and pile the weight back on.
